Disc Problems and Sciatica

With 23 years of experience treating disc syndromes, we are confident that we can help you navigate the recovery and rehabilitation process.

A healthy disc provides support and shock absorption to the spine and is the basis for healthy mobility and positioning of each vertebra. These discs are strong and sturdy, but they do occasionally get injured and break down. When this happens, the pain can be overwhelming, often giving the patient the feeling that they will never be able to return to their normal
activities.

There is hope! Discs DO heal and most patients with disc injury do not need surgery. With proper care, patients return to normal activity within a few months. The video below by Dr. Russ may help you understand your condition.

Formulating a successful treatment plan depends on understanding each aspect of the disc syndrome, from the pain of the injury itself (disc pain) to the pain of compressed nerves (such as sciatica) to the pain of compensating muscles and nearby joints.

Our disc treatment plans usually consist of a combination of traction, massage, strengthening, stretching, and nutritional supplementation, along with education to help you understand what you can do to speed up the healing process and how to avoid recurrence of the problem.

If you are suffering with a disc problem, please call or send Dr. Russ an email. We would be happy to talk with you to see if our treatment program might be right for you.

As always, if we feel we cannot help you, we will tell you and direct you to the resources that will get you out of pain and back to your normal life.
